Reduce the app's size
Uh.. This app as a terminal emulator is larger than The Elements with its butt ton of media. Why is it >1.5GB? The app is fine enough for features (and obviously more than I'd use given the size), but the size is ridiculous. Not sure why most app store complaints are on pricing rather than size....
omg thank you for version 4.6.4. The plugins folder is a glorious 20 MB with this update. The Assets.car file has gone up to 387 MB which is 82% of your app's uncompressed size of 473 MB, but that's a goal for another day. Asset Catalog Tinkerer reports 4028 assets, but only extracts 996. Not sure about that issue anyway. You have a lot of pretty pictures for a command line utility is the gist though. Edit: Maybe check out SF Symbols : https://developer.apple.com/design/human-interface-guidelines/sf-symbols/overview/
No, 162,1 MB on iPad.
And yes,you are crazy...and need other hobbies.
*sigh* I suppose it's my fault since I see this size using the app store in iTunes 22.214.171.124.. which recently had its ability to download apps remotely disabled for mac.
When downloading from there, there is no app slicing and all resources are contained in the one app ipa file... So I offloaded the 1.6 GB app from my phone and redownloaded it on the phone directly.. it's now 150 MB.... So app design guidelines saying to design apps differently to target different devices is fine enough. but should there be this much variation in an app between devices?
And I believe the issue with the plugins duplicating data from the main app's assets is still a problem and would reduce the app's size in all cases (including my no longer supported way of managing apps). 150 MB could be 60 MB as an example. This was found by extracting the files from the ipa file which is possible when using iTunes to manage iOS apps on a mac since you can access the ipa file itself
Luckily I'm not entirely crazy as the app store webpage does list the full size of the app : https://apps.apple.com/us/app/termius-ssh-client/id549039908 Luckily if the app size is reduced by removing duplicate assets, this overall size would be reduced and be less intimidating for people browsing apps on a device other than one running iOS/iPadOS.
Where are you getting these numbers?! My iPad says the Termius app uses ~147MB.
297 MB for Assets? 47 MB for Frameworks? ...922 MB for Plugins... Fonts are duplicated in the plugins? Please optimize this....... omfg.. Assets in the main app are duplicated nearly byte for byte in 3 of 4 plugins... Is there a public forum to shame app developers?
