Quick Start

Termius is an SSH and SFTP client, which supports Telnet, Serial cables and is also Mosh-compatible. Termius works on Windows / Mac / Linux as well as mobile devices – iOS / iPadOS and Android. Some of its features are provided through the Pro or Team subscriptions – see this page to learn more.

This article describes some basic usage scenarios and provides pointers to where you can find more information.

Installing Termius

To learn how to download and install Termius, take a look at these instructions.

When you launch the app for the first time, it suggests that you create an account.

An account is required, if you'd like to use the features of the paid plans, such as cross-device data synchronization. After you create an account, you're offered or automatically provided with a 14-day trial period, during which you can use the features of the Pro subscription for free.

Connecting to a server

Adding a host entry is probably the first thing you'll want to do after the installation. This will allow you to connect to a remote device with an SSH, Mosh, or Telnet server installed.

Double-click or tap a host entry to connect to the device that the entry represents. There's no need to provide credentials upon connection if you've saved them in the entry.

Connecting using SSH keys

If you're going to authenticate using an SSH key, you'll need to import it to / generate it in Termius. Importing can be done in the 'Keychain' section or while you're adding or editing a host.

A key can be generated in the 'Keychain' section.

Setting up identities

When you have several hosts requiring the same credentials, check out identities.

If you save those credentials in an identity and link it with the hosts, you won't have to update every single host when the credentials for those hosts need to be replaced – just the identity.

Organizing hosts with groups and tags

For easy navigation and more, you can categorize hosts with groups and tags. Groups can be used not only for orderliness: a group's properties are inherited by non-explicitly specified parameters in its nested hosts.

Running snippets

Snippets are saved commands that you can run with a single click or tap, while in the terminal, and auto-run right after you connect to a host. You can also run them on several servers at once.

Transferring files (SFTP)

Termius comes with an SFTP client allowing you to securely transfer files between the local and a remote host or two remote hosts as well manage and edit files on a remote and the local host.
